In Canada, our maps are cut through the Pacific, so we don’t offend anyone.

It’s not necessarily a stereotype - If you cut the Pacific in half for your map, it’s likely they use the International Date Line as a divide (since that avoids land masses as a general rule), which means the Greenwich or Prime Meridian, 0 degrees longitude, would likely be the centre of the map.
